PYRUS
Pencaitland, East Lothian

Deadline: 4 Mar 2026
Compensation: £14-15/hour
Paid
Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to take on the care and cultivation of our 2.75-acre walled garden—an established flower farm supplying seasonal stems to our studio and local wholesale clients. PYRUS grows on 1.5 acres, with another roughly 1.5 acres of wild meadow which we are looking to gently cultivate into a perennial wild flower meadow.
The role includes all elements of running a small farm/ large garden, and requires crop planning, garden maintenance, propagation (mainly from seed), harvesting, supply coordination and record keeping. The Garden Manager will organise and be supported by volunteers and should be confident in time and task management, while managing a large space independently. The role flexes with the season with most administration on Google sheets taking place over winter, propagation in spring and harvesting in summer. There are areas of fresh ground to cultivate and room to develop ideas around rewilding and permaculture.
We’re looking for a highly organised, self-motivated individual with at least three years’ experience in horticulture, crop production or land management. You'll need good physical health, independent transport and a passion for sustainable growing. Experience working with flowers is a bonus, but not essential. As is confidence in light building and petrol machinery.
