Job description

Urban Biodiversity CIC, the team behind Newquay Orchard, is looking for an inspiring Market Garden Development Lead to build on the success of our veg bag scheme, Grown by Newquay Orchard, lead volunteers and drive forward our food strategy.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a regenerative, community supported agriculture (CSA) social ‑business while working within an organisation deeply committed to environmental and social impact.

About the Role

As Market Garden Development Lead, you’ll be responsible for year-round crop production, enterprise development and leadership across our market gardens at two beautiful sites in Cornwall.

You will:

  • Lead a talented team of growers, volunteers and students
  • Oversee crop planning, production, and site management
  • Participate in Cornwall’s CSA network and community-based food system
  • Grow our customer base including veg bags and local hospitality businesses
  • Build relationships with partners, producers and the wider community
  • Champion our values of community, environment, learning, inclusion and wellbeing

This is both a hands-on and strategic business development role, perfect for someone who loves growing but also thrives on building a sustainable, values led community organisation.

About You

If you have a degree level qualification in horticulture, strong knowledge of organic, agro‑ecological or regenerative practices, experience in leading a market garden enterprise, budgeting, sales, customer relationships and a passion to make a difference – then we want to hear from you!
