Job description

Day to day duties:

  • Mixing, shaping and baking a variety of breads, buns, viennoiserie, pastries and sandwiches to the highest standard.
  • Working with other bakers on new recipe development.
  • Sourdough starter management.
  • Ordering and stock management.
  • Maintaining a clean and ordered bakery and kitchen.

Details:

  • Shifts 9-10 hours, start times vary from 4-6am depending on the day.
  • 37-40 hours over 4 days a week. Shifts on a recurring 3 week rota.
  • 22 days annual leave (based on 28 days pro rata).
  • Christmas bonus based on business profits.
  • Unlimited coffee on shift.

We need:

  • Preferably 1 year experience working in a professional baking environment with viennoiserie and sourdough breads.
  • A passionate and motivated baker that loves the craft and product. Someone who is curious to learn more, try new things and interested in sustainable local food systems and direct relationships with suppliers.
  • Someone willing to work independently (some shifts will be baking solo) and confident in the knowledge of how to react when something goes wrong.
  • A willingness to be an active and helpful member of a small but tight-knit team, helping out colleagues when required.

We specialise in making long-fermented sourdough and yeasted breads, viennoiserie and other sweet and savoury bakes using locally grown and responsibly sourced ingredients for our local community.
