Job description

We are looking for food lovers to join our retail team on a part-time basis for 1 day a week on Saturdays. We believe experience behind the cheese counter is the best way to learn about the production, selection, and maturation of the products we work with.

Responsibilities will include:

• Creating an inviting, positive and safe customer service experience
• Delivering excellent product knowledge to customers
• Upholding strict health and safety procedures, maintaining exact quality assurance standards
• Working to exceed weekly sales & customer number targets
• Tasting cheese daily in order to accurately gauge its flavour profile and condition

A successful candidate will be:

• A clear and concise communicator
• Comfortable in a customer-facing role
• Organised and able to balance multiple jobs
• Self-motivated
• Rigorous and highly organised

Applicants will be considered favourably if they have:

• Previous work in the sale of artisan foods
• A full, clean UK driving licence
• Experience working towards and hopefully exceeding sales targets
• Can work half days as part of a working week
• Live an easily commutable distance from our South London retail sites
• Experience with cheese & a HUGE love of it!

Starting salary: £29,000+ (dependent on experience) pro-rata with opportunities for swift progression

Your shift would be a set Saturday with room to take on extra shifts in the week across your training period. Please specify your availability on your cover letter. There will also be opportunities to take on extra shifts across the year.

Availability in the run-up to Christmas is essential; we ask that part-time mongers chip in with a full 5 days in our busiest week of the year. Your training will take place at either our Borough Market or East Dulwich site and you will likely be retailing across more than one of our sites.
