Job description

We are an award-winning specialist nursery near Pulborough in West Sussex with a reputation for selling unique and beautiful plants, and designing and planting exceptional gardens.

We are currently looking for a plant-obsessed powerhouse to join our Nursery Production Team. This is a physically demanding role focused on maintaining the welfare of our plants and keeping them looking their best all year round. Working outside throughout the year requires grit, stamina and an unrelenting passion. A genuine enthusiasm for horticulture is essential and previous experience would be highly desirable. If you are keen to work with some of the world’s most exciting plants and believe you can play your part in our continued success - then this is the role for you.

Duties include:

  • Transporting and displaying plants around our busy retail space.
  • Potting on and putting out stock.
  • Unloading deliveries and preparing new plants for sale.
  • Clipping, pruning, weeding, watering, and other general plant husbandry jobs.
  • Assisting with Events preparation
  • Other general nursery duties as required, including support of our propagation, dispatch, and estate team

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • Physically fit and able to move large plant stock around the nursery, with an extremely strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job.
  • Unrivalled levels of professionalism at all times.
  • Honesty, openness, and a team-player mentality.
  • A practical problem solver, with grit, stamina, and an unrelenting passion for plants.

Desirable

  • Practical experience of working with plants including how to clip, prune and handle a wide range of plants.
  • Experience of nursery work good plant knowledge.
  • Forklift/telehandler licences and/or PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain nursery equipment and machinery would be advantageous.

 

Expected Start Date: Spring 2026

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £28,000 p/a

Hours of work: 8am-5pm, 5 days p/w including Saturdays on a rota
