Job description

Global Generation is looking for a Youth Programmes Faciliator who is passionate about engaging young people and local communities in reaching their full potential and creating positive social and environmental change. In this role, you will co-lead on the outreach and engagement of local communities, especially with a focus on involving and recruiting young people, as well as planning and facilitation of land-based, cooking and creative workshops. You will particularly focus on working with young people at the Paper Garden in Southwark.

What we are looking for:

As the Events and Communications Senior Coordinator:

  • You will be outgoing and love working with people across backgrounds and sectors.
  • You will be ready to take initiative, have a flexible attitude, be able to think on your feet and enjoy finding solutions when faced with challenges and change.
  • You will be able to communicate your passion for Global Generation’s work, the natural environment and social justice to others in a creative and engaging way.
  • You will have experience of running events in the charity sector or another field as well as supporting creative campaigns or marketing teams.
  • You will have strong communication and relationship building skills; strong project management skills, including working to and achieving financial targets; and great organisational skills with an ability to work on multiple priorities and tasks.
  • You will be proficient or eager to learn skills across all social media channels and newsletter platforms that enable you to effectively communicate imaginatively the charity's work.
  • You will be creative and able to produce a range of graphic assets that match Global Generation's brand guidelines.
  • You will also be willing to work some evenings and weekends as the event schedule requires.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The role has 2 main strands:

1. VENUE HIRE & EVENTS

Communicating venue hire and supporting partnerships with corporates and individuals to aid fundraising, and leading on the facilitation of those events

2. COMMUNICATIONS AND CREATIVE CAMPAIGNS

Supporting the wider work of the team by communicating our objectives and achievements, maintaining an engaging and imaginative stream of content that allows GG's work to reach new audiences

Development and strategic

  • Work with the Global Generation team to deliver communication strategy highlighting the achievements and objectives of the organisation and building our brand
  • Contribute to existing vision, business plan and implementation for venue hire and events at Global Generation
  • Jointly responsible for ensuring that venue hire and the events programme makes a profit, working towards an agreed target

Events Planning & Delivery

  • Develop, promote and deliver a programme of events in our garden sites, emphasising the uniqueness of each site, as well as assist with larger fundraising events
  • Customer relations: First point of contact for new bookings and enquiries via phone and email ; Conduct site visits for potential clients
  • Financial administration: Draw up quotes for hire costs, process and approve invoices & payments, manage events budgets and track spending and income
  • Event administration including contracting, diary management, invoicing, issuing booking forms, contracts, menus, brochure and terms and conditions (parts to be carried out by Office Assistant)
  • Space care & Event logistics: prepare materials (laptop, AV, flipcharts, refreshments); coordinate with others on days not in; Ensure spaces are well kept, fixed, warm for clients and set up according to their needs
  • Event Planning: schedules, call sheets, RAMS, management and scheduling of event staff, equipment, suppliers
  • Duty Management: attend events to ensure smooth set up and activation, oversee the logistics of events including staff, deliveries, suppliers to ensure the smooth running of events both internally and externally

Partnerships and relationships

  • Actively maintain relationships and networks with individuals, organisations and developers
  • Understand, value and work together with the GG team to ensure that there is a good balance between commercial priorities and community priorities, to avoid clashing with or limiting the use of spaces for educational and community events. Where possible add value by merging commercial and community
  • Work in partnership with like-minded caterers for events, where possible prioritising opportunities for local people
  • Work in partnership with other organisations to run interesting events`

Communications and Creative Campaigns

  • Support delivery of existing communications strategy across the organisation, including monthly newsletter, regular social media schedule, practical copyediting, typesetting and design support for annual outputs.
  • Create and deliver creative communication materials and publications for use in the media and online that help bring Global Generation’s work to life
  • Utilise existing branding guidelines and templates to create consistent instagram graphics, newsletter headers and venue hire documents
  • Promote the gardens and their spaces through content and graphics creation, including video work, designing leaflets/posters for upcoming events, and posting on our website, social media, listings, networks and press
  • Work with operations team to keep website updated
