Salary: £20.60 per hour (£40,170 FTE / £20,085 actual)
Hours: 18.75 hours per week (2.5 days)
Contract: Fixed-term (minimum 52 weeks maternity cover, with additional handover period)

About the role
WWOOF UK is seeking a collaborative and motivated Interim Director to lead the organisation through a key transition period.
This is a varied and central role, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting the staff team, and working closely with the Board of Trustees. Alongside organisational leadership, you will lead a key area of strategic development: our Educational Pathways work; identifying opportunities, developing projects, and securing funding to support future growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategy with hands-on management, is comfortable working in a small team, and is committed to ethical, values-led work.
Key responsibilities
Organisational Leadership & Management
Provide day-to-day leadership of the staff team
Oversee delivery of operational plans aligned with strategic objectives
Monitor organisational performance and support team development
Ensure effective communication and documentation of decisions
Maintain oversight of member satisfaction and organisational wellbeing
Governance & Trustee Liaison
Act as the key link between staff and the Board of Trustees
Support strategic planning, budgeting, and reporting
Attend and contribute to Board, Council, and sub-committee meetings
Co-lead safeguarding responsibilities and organisational compliance
Strategic Development (Educational Pathways)
Lead development of projects within the Educational Pathways strategic area
Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities
Manage project delivery and report on progress
Recommend future direction for this area of work
About you
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Experience in team leadership and organisational management
Experience working with or alongside a Board of Trustees (ideally in the charity sector)
Strong organisational and strategic thinking skills
Confidence in managing projects and balancing multiple priorities
Experience in grant funding and project development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused approach
Desirable
Experience with or understanding of WWOOF (as a volunteer or host)
Experience in educational or sustainability-focused projects
Knowledge of the charity and/or organic farming sectors
Working pattern & benefits
Flexible working (with one weekly core team day, currently Tuesdays)
Occasional evening meetings and up to 3 in-person events per year
28 days annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays
