Job description

We are seeking committed and passionate growers to join us at Kindling Farm in Merseyside. We have full-time and part time posts available.

Kindling Farm is a 78 acre farm in Knowsley, purchased in April 2023 to establish a fruit and veg based organic agroforestry system. In our first growing season (this last year) we produced a range of field-scale crops (strawberries, courgettes, squash, brassicas, celery, beetroot etc.) and polytunnel crops (tomatoes, spring onions) in our 720m2 tunnel (which we hope to increase next season as finance allows). We are now getting ready to scale up our production and markets for the coming season.

Kindling Farm is part of a wider family of projects and organisations set up over 15 years ago with the aim of creating a fairer and more sustainable food and farming system for all. We have worked hard to build relationships with our buyers, create our own markets and engage our communities.

We are looking for the right people with the skills, practical experience (including use of machinery for the farm) and passion to help us deliver our ambitious plans.

Salary: From £24,900-£25,800 per annum (gross) for a 37.5 hour week (pro rata for part time and seasonal hours) plus 5% pension contribution

Hours: Up to 37.5 hours a week (though could potentially be a job share). You must be able to work occasional weekends and be flexible to possible seasonal changes to start/end times where needed.

About Kindling Trust

Since 2007, we’ve been working with communities, farmers, health providers, activists and policymakers to challenge and subvert the industrial food system, a system which fuels the crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and economic inequity. Based in the north west of England, we have a 78-acre organic agroforestry farm, an organic vegetable box scheme and support a number of food and farming projects.
