Job description

We're looking for people who care.

Dee is an independent neighbourhood cafe opening in Barnes this June. We're building a place that feels like a second home: warm, unhurried, rooted in good food and the community around it.

Nature plays a quiet role here, from the ingredients on the plate to the plants and light that shape the space. We source most of our food from UK farms, work closely with sustainable suppliers, and take seriously the connection between what people eat and how the land is treated.

We're not a corporate operation. We're two people, Olessia and Antonio, opening something we believe in, and we're looking for the right founding team to open the doors with us.

Roles we're hiring for

Barista

You'll be the first thing most people experience at Dee. We're looking for someone with real coffee knowledge and a warm, natural way with people. You care about the craft and enjoy the rhythm of a well-run morning service.

Front of House

You make people feel genuinely welcome, not just served. You're at ease in a busy room, you notice the details, and you take quiet pride in creating a good experience for everyone who walks in.

Chef / Kitchen Assistant / Prep

Our menu is seasonal and nourishing, from crepes and wok bowls to poke bowls, toasties and burgers. We work with good ingredients and want a kitchen team that respects them. Whether you're an experienced chef or building your skills, what matters is care, reliability and a genuine interest in food done properly.

What we're looking for

  • A warm, genuine manner with people
  • Reliability and a real team spirit
  • Experience in hospitality, whether in a cafe, restaurant or similar
  • An interest in good food, where it comes from and how it's made
  • A shared sense that sustainability matters, not just as a value on the wall

You don't need to have worked in a sustainability-focused business before. But it should feel like something that matters to you, not just a line on a job post.

What Dee stands for

  • Food that nourishes people and is honest about the planet
  • 60%+ of our ingredients sourced from UK farms
  • A menu that evolves gently towards more plant-forward options over time
  • Smart, energy-efficient systems running quietly behind the scenes
  • A space that belongs to the neighbourhood, Barnes and beyond
  • Service that feels human, never corporate

We don't preach about any of this. We just try to do it properly, and we'd like a team that feels the same way.

The details

  • Location: Barnes, SW13, South West London
  • Hours: shifts between 6:00am and 6:00pm
  • A mix of shift patterns available, part-time and full-time considered
  • We pay the London Living Wage (£14.80/hr). Salary dependent on experience for senior roles.
