Job description

Join BDAC as a Trustee – Help Grow Biodynamic Farming for the Future

BDAC is looking for 2 new Trustees who wants to help shape the future of biodynamic farming and growing in the UK.

This is an unpaid role, but it offers a meaningful way to support an organisation that is training a new generation of biodynamic farmers and growers, and helping biodynamics take root in the UK and beyond.

If you believe in the power of biodynamics to nourish people, heal the land, and strengthen communities, and you’d like to use your skills and experience to help BDAC grow, we’d love to hear from you.

About BDAC

The Biodynamic Agricultural College (BDAC) is the UK’s only provider of the Ofqual-regulated Level 3 Diploma in Biodynamic Farming & Growing, awarded by Crossfields Institute.

BDAC offers:

  • Work-based training on real farms, where trainees are employed, earn wages, and learn biodynamic and organic methods in practice.

  • Online courses for flexible, remote learning.

  • A route into meaningful, land-based work without going into debt.

  • A qualification that is internationally recognised and grounded in the deep wisdom of biodynamics.

BDAC’s mission is to train the next generation of biodynamic practitioners, educators, and innovators, and to support the growth of biodynamics in the UK and internationally. We believe that biodynamic agriculture can play a vital role in creating more resilient, regenerative, and just food systems.

Why become a Trustee?

As a Trustee, you will help guide BDAC’s strategic direction and ensure it remains effective, sustainable, and accountable. You will:

  • Join a small, committed Board that shares a deep belief in biodynamics and its potential.

  • Help shape BDAC’s vision for the future – from training new farmers to expanding access to biodynamic education.

  • Support BDAC in building partnerships, funding streams, and long-term stability.

  • Bring your own perspective, skills, and experience to help BDAC grow in ways that stay true to its values.

This is not a role about managing day-to-day operations. It’s about stepping into a longer-term commitment to an organisation and its mission, and helping it thrive for the future.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Feels a connection to biodynamics, or is willing to learn deeply about it.

  • Has experience or interest in areas such as governance, finance, law, education, fundraising, communications, agriculture, or community development.

  • Is ready to commit to the role for at least 1 year.

  • Can attend Board meetings (in person or online) and contribute thoughtfully to strategic discussions.

  • Works well with others, listens openly, and is willing to engage constructively with different perspectives.

  • Is committed to BDAC’s mission and values.

Previous experience as a Trustee is helpful but not essential. We especially welcome applicants from under-represented groups and those with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

What we offer

  • The chance to support a meaningful cause: training farmers and growers who will shape the future of food and land.

  • A warm, supportive, and engaged Board environment.

  • The opportunity to make a real difference, using your skills and experience for the long term.

This is an unpaid role. Travel and meeting costs may be covered where possible, subject to BDAC’s policy.

Time commitment

The expected time commitment is typically:

  • 1 Board meeting every six weeks (1 hour each).

  • Preparation time for meetings (reading materials, agenda review).

  • Occasional additional meetings or tasks as required by the Board.

  • Engagement with BDAC’s work and community, where appropriate.
