Job description

Are you looking for a job that requires you to eat cheese all day? Would you like to learn more about our mission to Improve British Cheese and become part of it? Are you passionate about good food and great service? Then we would like to hear from you!

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Cheesemonger to join our Retail team on a part-time or full-time, permanent basis from the middle or the end of July 2026.

The successful candidate will be based in our Barons Court shop and will occasionally be scheduled to work in our other shops located in Borough Market, Bermondsey, Covent Garden and Islington. There is a further possibility of occasional off-site work at markets and events.

The position involves a full 9-hour shift per day and regular weekend work. The role is 3 days per week and up to 5 days per week (full-time). If the successful candidate wishes to go part-time, the role would ideally include additional shifts to support increased demand in the lead-up to the Christmas period.

We are looking for positive, energetic people with a can-do attitude. You will have a keenness to learn and be open to taking feedback and direction from your colleagues in a quick paced and service-oriented environment. Though cheese experience would be an advantage, it’s not a necessity. Any retail or hospitality experience would also put you in good stead for this work.

Requirements:

  • Available to start at the beginning or the middle of July 2026
  • Full availability 1st-24th of December inclusive
  • Full weekend availability. The weekly shift pattern involves at least one weekend day, every week.

Benefits:

  • An annual salary between £17,850 (3 d/w) to £29,750 (full-time)
  • Full on-the-job training
  • The makings of a delicious lunch every day
  • A steady supply of fresh bread and cheese (of course!) as well as tea and coffee
  • A generous staff discount

A couple of important things to note before submitting your application:

  • This role involves the handling and selling of alcohol.
  • For our Retail Cheesemongers to understand the flavour and texture profiles of our cheeses and thus better be able to recommend options to customers, for this role there is a requirement to regularly taste our full range of cheeses including those that contain animal rennet.

If this sounds like a role for you, we would very much like to hear from you. Please complete the application form by clikcking on the link below, by end of day Sunday 5th of July 2026.

We will be triaging applications as they arrive, and we aim to contact successful candidates within 7 days of their application. We reserve the right to close our vacancy earlier than advertised above.

All applications will require proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

We are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments needed to support you in our recruitment process.

As part of our recruitment process, Neal’s Yard Dairy collects and processes personal data relating to job applicants.
