Job description

Neal’s Yard Dairy is an independent business that has been selecting, maturing and selling British and Irish cheeses since 1979. We sell in our shops, to wholesale restaurants and shops, export cheese round the world and sell it online. 

We are looking for a part-time Delivery Driver, working 3 days per week to join our Wholesale Distribution team on a 3-month temporary contract with the possibility of an extension.

You will be based out of our maturation arches in Bermondsey, London. You will drive one of our fleet of 3.5t vans, spending most of your time on the road delivering to our wholesale customers in London and further afield, as well as collecting cheese from farms across the country.

Current regular collections and deliveries cover London, Cambridge, Suffolk, Kent, Sussex, Bucks, East midlands. Your working hours will be 4am to 1pm Wednesday to Friday. (London based, Part-time, Temporary, 3-months contract)

You will be:  

• Professional and polite with a strong focus on customer service

• Available Wednesday- Friday

• An excellent verbal communicator fluent in English

• Honest, trustworthy, reliable and conscientious

• Physically fit

• Precise and accurate with high levels of attention to detail in all your activities

• Flexible and mindful of the business/team objectives and goals whilst completing your duties

• Adaptable – able to work independently out on the road and think on your feet when needed! 

You will have:

• A full, UK or EU Driving License with a maximum of 3 points

• Professional driving experience and solid knowledge of the Highway Code

• Good knowledge of London roads

•  IT competency including Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook

• Proof of your right to work in the UK

There is lots of cheese to load, unload and deliver, so the role is physically demanding with heavy lifting required. The role also includes up to one hour of packing and helping to finish the overnight order for delivery each morning. There are a lot of miles to cover each week to get the cheese where it needs to be, so of course you will need to enjoy driving! 

We pride ourselves not only on the excellent cheese we sell but on the service that goes with it, so attention to detail and good communication between you and the wholesale team back in the office is crucial. We offer full on the job training, guaranteed shifts and a competitive salary of £17,850 per annum (FTE £29,750). There’s also a steady supply of excellent tea, coffee, fresh bread and of course cheese available at our London base. 

We supply some of the best cheese in the world, to the best restaurants and delis in London and beyond. The successful applicant will play a key part in making this happen, with great scope for career development as we expand our customer base and continue our mission to improve British cheese.
