Job description
The Purpose of the Community Food Security Role
Access to good food is central to individual and community wellbeing. Across Wales, food insecurity remains a significant challenge driven by complex inequalities that require collaborative solutions to address. This role exists to help strengthen the partnerships and community work already making a difference, ensuring that people across Monmouthshire- especially those most at risk- can access good food with dignity. You will work with communities, not just for them, prioritising relationships, listening and building trust. Working alongside partners and communities to find solutions that are shaped by the people they're designed to help and connecting people to the right support at the right time.
This role is about more than food provision; it's about understanding why people struggle to access nutritious food and working collaboratively with communities and partners to address the underlying causes. As a key member of the Sustainable Food Team, you will work with the Sustainable Food Project Manager to coordinate and deliver food security initiatives across Monmouthshire. You'll build relationships, gather evidence, and deliver targeted support that makes a real difference to households across the county. You will use data and evidence to identify need and target support effectively and your primary responsibility will be to support communities and households experiencing food insecurity, contributing to the Council's tackling poverty agenda, our duties under the Future Generations Act and the ambitions of the Local Food Strategy and Monmouthshire Food Partnership.
You will be joining a programme with strong existing foundations and partnerships and will be supported to make an impact from day one.We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience and from diverse and underrepresented communities
This post is 2 days per week (14.48 hours) and is a fixed term role to 31 March 2027 with the potential to extend subject to funding
