About the MAZI Project 

We are The MAZI Project, a Bristol-based, youth-led charity empowering and nourishing marginalised young people aged 16 to 25, including care leavers, young asylum seekers, and those overcoming homelessness or domestic abuse. 

Our aMAZIng Meal Kit service: 

Our aMAZIng Meal Kits are at the heart of this model, and often act as a MAZI member's (young person) first point of connection with MAZI. Our members are referred to us from external partners such as 1625 Independent People, Safe Haven Accommodation, the council and more. Delivered every other Tuesday, our meal kits include:

• Fresh, locally sourced ingredients for up to three recipes chosen by the young person, providing six portions of nutritious food.

• A recipe book and refillable olive oil and spice kit.

• A three month incubation period to support members to make the best use of the meal kits.

We build relationships with our suppliers, prioritising nature friendly farming and direct supply chains. We are committed to paying producers a fair price for their produce. 

Our meal kits run alongside a range of food education services hosted at our community kitchen in Bedminster including accredited food education programs, work experience and community enrichment sessions all focused on reducing isolation and supporting improved physical and mental health by building long term community. 

Location: The MAZI Project community Kitchen, Bedminster, Bristol 

Salary: £27,500 pro-rata 

Type: Part time 2.5 days a week

Days: Monday & Tuesday Full day. Half day flexible 

About the role 

We are looking for a Project Lead to pack and deliver our aMAZIng meal kit services to 110 of our members across all Bristol whilst, maintaining and building our excellent community engagement and supporting us in impact measuring. This is a varied and exciting new role, working closely with TMP’s Co-Director and Head of Education. 

You will be responsible for continuing our excellent and personalised customer services and relationship building with our young people. You will flourish in a busy environment, organising and building relationships with volunteers and the local community. You will also be the main point of contact with all producers and suppliers maintaining our excellent reputation within our community. 

On the non-mealkit delivery weeks you will be responsible for gathering and recording impact data from our members across multiple data bases, including Upshot and Oooby.As well as supporting us to strengthen relationships with our members and delivery partners. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Maintaining our values by leading high standards of commitment to local agroecological food systems & procurement. 

• Maintaining communication with young people, farmers, corporate partners and volunteers.

• Creating a warm and welcoming environment for anyone visiting the MAZI project and participating in services. 

• Stock control and management of all packaging and food. 

• Maintaining our excellent food handling and kitchen hygiene standards throughout the warehouse and kitchen. 

• Supporting the Co-Director & Head of Education to develop new relationships within the Bristol Youth Network and the Agroecological food network. 

• Working with our two main databases Upshot & Ooooby and Google Sheets.

• Managing volunteer rotas, coordinating the delivery drivers, packers and pre-packers to support smooth and efficient operations for pack day. 

• Gathering and recording qualitative and quantitative data on the impact of our services, conducting 6 month review surveys, recording key milestones on members timelines.

• Maintaining and improving member engagement from the 3 month member incubation period for new joiners to any changes to their personal circumstances such as dietary requirements, address or any issues with the boxes.  

Essential Criteria 

• Min 2 years experience in a lead coordinator role or managing a kitchen (evidenced on your C.V) 

• Level 2 food hygiene and an excellent knowledge of kitchen management systems. 

• Excellent and efficient computer literacy (Google Sheets, Canva, Upshot and Ooooby) with an ability to pick up new databases (evidenced in C.V & when answering questions in interview) 

• A personal commitment and knowledge of local food systems 

• Clear and direct communicator, confident facilitating group of 15+ (evidenced in C.V & when answering questions in interview) 

Desired Criteria 

• Min 2 years experience of working in sustainable food systems (farming / chefing / education) 

• Experience working with vulnerable groups 

• Experience gathering and recording impact data 

• Experience in fundraising for projects / charities 

• Valid DBS

Hire Process / Key dates 

First interview, in person at the community kitchen: 

21st or 23rd September  (varied times available) with Lily, Co-Director and Head of Service and our founder Mel. 

Second interview, in person at the community kitchen:

30th September or 5th October with Lily, Mel and Hannah, our Business Development Trustee. 

Activity 29th September (9:00-11:00 / 11:00-13:00): We will invite the final candidates to participate in one of our box packing Tuesdays, where you will be assigned a task for a practical assessment. 

Max 2 hours commitment.

Preferred start date: 18th October 2026 (flexible)
