Job description

St Anthony’s Trust began in 1972 in Forest Row and now runs as a limited, charitable company. We have two main charitable aims: 1) Biodynamic education, training (ie apprentices and  BD farmers) and research and 2) providing support for the aged.

We are seeking two new Trustees to start as soon as possible - one with financial experience and the other experience of fund raising. In the medium term we are also looking for potential Trustees with other skill sets. Trustees should be both interested in and open to working with anthroposophy. We meet around 6 times a year at the home of one of the Trustees from 7-7.30  to 9pm and in between times there would be contact between Trustees and our administrator Leticia Armengod (Saintanthonystrust.com)

We are the landlord of Tablehurst and Plaw Hatch Community Farms in Forest Row/Sharpthorne and own most of the land and buildings on which the farms operate. We work closely with the farms and the Co-op to ensure that biodynamic, community-owned agriculture in Forest Row is protected for the community and safeguarded for generations to come. The complex eco-system around and within our community requires support, leadership and advocacy and all of these things and more, are at the heart of St Anthony’s work. This involves practical support.  At Old Plaw Hatch Farm we are currently constructing a new sewage system and buying 25 acres to add to Plaw Hatch land. At Tablehurst Farm we are supporting 2 apprenticeships and  funding new cattle housing and slurry storage. We also manage legacies and donations, run workdays and a host of other things. We have no endowment and depend on gifts and legacies for our ongoing work.

Being a Trustee of St Anthony’s would means joining a dedicated team (currently 6 Trustees) working to support the farms, search for grants, encourage donations and take the Trust into our vision for the future: one where funding is secure and supports growth, where both farms have a firm grounding in biodynamics which allows further research and expansion of a BD vision and where other aspects of the Trust (ie support for the aged in our community) can be developed further.
