Job description

A fantastic opportunity to join a friendly family-run dairy farm as a general farm worker. 

This role offers a rewarding and varied work environment, where you’ll be part of a dedicated team caring for our livestock, assisting with field operations and performing farm maintenance.

About Us

We are a year-round calving, organic dairy farm. The farm includes a 150 Montbeliarde dairy herd and also 250 followers and youngstock, including pedigree Simmentals and Aberdeen Angus. 

The farm spans 550 acres which includes approximately 200 acres of silage and arable land to support the herd through the winter, as well as a 100 acre Kiwi system for summer grazing.

The Role

This position is seasonally varied and includes a mix of livestock care, farm maintenance, and machinery operation.

Livestock & Youngstock Responsibilities

• Ensuring high welfare standards for our youngstock and late-lactation dairy cows
• Shepherding, bedding, scraping, and feeding stock
• Monitoring weight and growth progression
• Assisting with general herd health and stock management
• Support milking rota

Farm Maintenance & Projects

• General maintenance
• Fencing, hedge laying and trimming
• Welding and equipment maintenance
• Continuous improvement of buildings (alongside contractors)

Seasonal & Machinery Work

• Assisting with silaging, harvest, cultivations, and leading bales.
• Operating tractors and machinery for general farm work

Working Hours

• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (40 hours/week)
• Alternate weekend work for essential livestock tasks
• Flexibility required during busier periods (which is paid at an overtime rate)

About You

• You have experience handling and caring for livestock
• You are interested in nature friendly farming practices
• Experience driving tractors is preferred but not essential
• You hold a valid UK driving license (essential)
• You can work well in a team and stay motivated when working alone
• You have great attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
