Job description

About the Role

Amazing Grace Bakery is looking for an experienced Artisan Baker to join our small team on a part-time basis.

We're an artisan bakery specialising in long-fermented sourdough, laminated pastries, brioche and seasonal products. We're looking for someone who already has hands-on experience in a commercial bakery and is confident working with dough throughout the production process.

This is a practical, production-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with artisan bread and viennoiserie and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality products. You'll work closely with the Head Baker and, over time, take ownership of key areas of production rather than simply assisting with day-to-day tasks.

Please note that this is a production-only site with no customer-facing duties.

Working Hours

The role is around 20 hours per week across three fixed days:

  • Monday: 8:00am to 2:00pm
  • Thursday: 7:00am to 2:00pm
  • Saturday: 4:00am to 11:00am

Applicants must be comfortable with early starts, particularly the 4:00am Saturday shift.

There may also be opportunities for additional hours during busy seasonal periods and for holiday cover.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing long-fermented sourdough breads from mixing through to baking
  • Mixing, dividing and shaping dough accurately and consistently
  • Assisting with, and where experienced, independently carrying out croissant production
  • Laminating, cutting and shaping croissants and other pastries
  • Producing and shaping brioche dough
  • Monitoring fermentation, proving and dough development
  • Operating bakery equipment safely and efficiently
  • Loading and unloading ovens and monitoring bakes
  • Ensuring products meet our standards for quality, appearance and consistency
  • Working to production schedules to fulfil wholesale and customer orders
  • Preparing ingredients and organising production effectively
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Assisting with stock rotation and ingredient management
  • Cleaning equipment and production areas at the end of each shift

What We're Looking For

We're specifically looking for someone with previous bakery experience. You should have:

  • Experience working in a commercial or artisan bakery
  • A good understanding of bread and dough production
  • Experience mixing, dividing and shaping dough
  • Knowledge of fermentation and proving
  • Experience using commercial bakery equipment
  • A good understanding of food hygiene and food safety
  • The ability to work efficiently during busy production periods
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Reliability and punctuality, especially for early morning starts

Experience with sourdough, laminated pastries, croissants or brioche would be particularly beneficial.
