A situation has become available for a talented and dynamic individual to manage the next phase for one of the UK’s best known organic wholesale businesses.

Phoenix Organics Ltd is looking to recruit a General Manager for its site in Bromyard, Herefordshire. The company has a turnover of nearly £1.5 million, with clear potential to develop much further.

The role will be very “hands on”, as this is not a large business and managers need to cover for each other.

Job Brief We are looking for a General Manager who will firmly yet responsibly develop Phoenix Organics into a modern, profitable example of an ethical business.

As the current owners exit the business, you will increasingly need to be the public face of the Company, demonstrating the dynamism and standards appropriate to that position. 

For the right individual, there will be opportunities to progressively take equity in the business.

General Manager responsibilities include:

In conjunction with the owners, to plan a strategy for revitalising and restructuring the company as the current owners progressively exit the business.

To ensure employees are motivated and contribute fully with the changing business.

To develop and implement all necessary budgetary, HR and legal requirements of the business as the restructuring strategy is implemented.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily running of the business
  • Assist the owners with setting strategy and targets
  • Set and maintain budgets appropriate with targeting responsible growth and profit
  • Oversee the company Human Resource responsibilities
  • Oversee recruitment, training and welfare of staff

In conjunction with other managers, ensure that the company complies with all Health and Safety and other legal requirements

Prepare regular progress and financial reports for owners

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar
  • Appropriate experience to ensure capability to carry out the responsibilities above
  • Demonstrate knowledge of organic fresh produce and a desire to lead an ethical business
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to think “outside the box” in order to develop the business
