Compensation: £11 per hour

Job description
Doh is a bakery, local food shop and greengrocers in Hackney Wick. We are based within a new community arts project and co-working space, right opposite the station.
We champion small producers, growers and makers and offer our customers an accessible place to shop sustainably.
We officially opened in our new site in January and we have a lot of exciting plans in the pipeline. Before we can take leaps and bounds in all the creative directions, we need extra hands getting the core of the business running smoothly which is the bakery.
We opened our doors to a very warm welcome and are now in the market for a full time baker to join our team.
Having worked multiple jobs within the hospitality industry we are wanting to build a really strong and supportive working environment that takes staff's needs into consideration (shocker, I know). Part of that is recognising that night shifts and long hours have no place in our working world.
Instead we will be operating on a rotational pattern where one week you start early every day (5.30-14:30) and the other you work later (14:00-23:00).
It will be 5 days a week but our idea is in the near future to have all full time members of staff work 4 days.
We’re looking for someone who can jump right in, who is a quick learner and with some flexibility for a new growing business.
Ideally, you have 1-2+ years working within a commercial bakery or kitchen that produced bread on site.
We are looking for:
We are largely producing bread for our retail space at the moment but looking to expand swiftly into delivering to more wholesale customers, particularly within the immediate area.
When the weather warms up, we are hoping to bake pizzas in our outside wood burning oven (covid dependant…) and in a post-pandemic world, we will also be hosting events at the bakery in what will eventually be our on-site cafe.
There is a lot creatively to get involved with and as a collaborative team, a lot of room for ideas and input.
Currently all staff are self-employed while we figure out our opening hours and shift patterns. From March/April, every member staff will be offered to go on to payroll and before that point will be able to have a say on what the company benefits will look like (cycle to work, gym discount etc).
Starting wage is £11 p/hour with free lunch on shift, all the caffeine you can handle, endless cake, and a pretty decent staff discount in-store.
We’re looking for someone who is available to start as soon as possible.
Please feel free to come and say hi in person at the bakery if you’re thinking of applying, we love a natter.
