Job description

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our team. 4am starts, days only.

We are looking for a pastry chef with professional experience, a mature approach and artistic flair. We have opened our third site and you will be responsible for finishing cakes and specialist viennoiserie for Tart by Sugardough. The right candidate will also have input into the daily cake and tart run at the bakery.

We would like to talk to pastry chefs with senior professional experience, team leadership skills and strong skills finishing various large and small cakes, bespoke celebration cakes (we don’t use fondant icing), crème patisserie, diplomat, jams & curds & chocolate work. 

Applicants must be passionate about quality seasonal food baked from scratch. We run a tight professional kitchen and a professional mature approach is necessary. If you have a creative approach to work, initiative, a love of good food, energy and a can-do attitude we’d love to talk to you.

We are a busy award winning fine food bakery with an excellent reputation for producing some of the best baked food in the UK. Everything is made from scratch on the premises including all pastry, viennoiserie, sourdough breads, pies, cakes, tarts, jams etc. Everything is handmade using fresh and seasonal produce and we don’t use anything artificial so no ‘improvers’, fillers or stabilisers.

Applicants must:

  • Be energetic, self motivated and dedicated to doing the best job they can;
  • At all times conduct themselves in a professional manner and be presentable;
  • Have professional chef experience;
  • Be on time for their shifts;
  • Speak English fluently;
  • Be trustworthy;
  • Familiar with HACCP;
  • Be eligible to work in the UK.

The position is permanent full time, 5 x straight shifts, two consecutive days off, approx. 45 hrs per week. Shifts start at 4.00am.
