Benedict Street Kitchen, Glastonbury
Former Police Court, Benedict St, Glastonbury BA6 9NP
Paid Full-time Permanent
Experienced cook required with passion for fresh, seasonal food with focus on flavour. This is a new family-run venture in a recently converted former C19th Police Court which will offer up to 50 covers inside and more outside in a sunny enclosed garden in the popular Somerset town of Glastonbury. The café is in the heart of the town and had a view of the Tor from the garden. Menus will need to be priced to appeal to locals and tourists, using produce supplied by the family farm, also in Somerset, a farm-to-fork operation. An ability to cook a wide range of recipes that include both vegan and high welfare meat is important, as well as gluten-free, etc. The café currently has permission for day time opening hours (10-5) but it is hoped these can be extended to develop supper evenings, which will give the cook the chance to demonstrate culinary expertise. In addition to the café kitchen, there is a second kitchen which is being offered as a bakery with an option to expand into outside catering. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mother/daughter enterprise from the beginning and experience it grow.
